"I Love You." "I Love...Cake?"

Ahhh. Cake. So many historical quotes about it. When the women of Paris marched on Versailles demanding lower bread prices, Queen Marie Antionette supposedly responded with the curt “let them eat cake.” Historians maintain that this never actually happened. (Thanks Professor Freedman!)

Then there’s that other quote “you can’t have your cake and eat it too.” So that’s just not true. First you have your cake, and then you eat it. What’s the problem with that? Ahhh. That’s because the original quote is reversed and reads “you can’t eat you cake and have it too.” And that is for sure true. It’s quite impossible to eat your cake, and still have it afterwards

So- despite the fact that the only two aphorisms (edit: neither are actually aphorisms) about cake that I’m aware of are untrue, that doesn’t mean we should all start hating on cake. Nor should we hate on the band Cake.

Yea yea. Some people make the claim that the lead singer doesn’t actually sing- he just recites lyrics. Great observation Watson! But that’s what makes them cool- it’s what makes them different from other bands. So, despite the fact that musical elitists will claim that this isn’t music; I would argue just the opposite. This is music at it’s absolute best and most fun.
