Rob Zombie

Remember when metal was the music your friend’s older brother listened to? It must have been the 5th grade the first time I ever heard of “heavy metal” bands. A friend of mine introduced me to his older brother’s music; specifically Pantera and White Zombie. But those were my early days of music listening, and I couldn’t really appreciate these bands.

And then 6th grade rolled around, and I got into Metallica. It started with hearing Fuel and The Unforgiven II on the radio over and over. Then me and my sister bought Reload. And I took it from there, buying Master of Puppets next, and the rest of the albums soon afterwards. Now, I digress into my love for Metallica merely to explain how I came to appreciate heavy metal.

8th grade rolled around, and Rob Zombie went solo and came out with Hillbilly Deluxe, boasting rockers like Dragula and Living Dead Girl. This was the album that finally got me into these guys. This was the album when I finally realized that I really liked heavy metal. Not glam-metal from the 80s, but the real deal.

Look for more heavy metal posts in the near future: Metallica, Sabbath, Ozzy, Pantera, and more as I think of them.

So check out the tracks, and check out the video from Ozzfest ’05 (and try to appreciate it even though Rob can’t seem to sing at all anymore) and rock out to some midsummer metal mania.

Rob Zombie- Dragula

Rob Zombie- Living Dead Girl

Rob Zombie- Never Gonna Stop

White Zombie- More Human Than Human
